jobs@munich-innovation.com z.H. Herrn Dr. Jens Elsner
UI/UX Designer (Part-Time, m/f/x)
Location: Ljubljana, Hybrid
Workload: Part-time (approx. 20 hours per week)
Level: Senior
Employment Type: Regular Part-time or Freelance (both options available)
About Munich Innovation Labs
We develop innovative software and AI solutions for the security and defence sectors. Following our recent acquisition by Rohde & Schwarz, we are entering a new phase of growth and actively scaling our team.
Our focused experts – based in Munich, Berlin, Bremen, and Ljubljana – support customers with advanced OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) solutions for data collection and analysis. Join us at the intersection of cutting-edge AI and strict regulatory requirements to build tools that matter.
About the Position
We are looking for an experienced UI/UX Designer to join our core platform team.
In this role, you will define how users interact with complex AI-enriched data. You are not just designing landing pages; you are designing large-scale commercial intelligence tools. Your primary challenge will be transforming massive datasets and complex backend logic into intuitive, clear, and actionable data visualizations.
While this is a design role, we value technical fluency. You will work closely with engineers, so understanding frontend constraints and the logic behind the data is a significant advantage.
Although this is a part-time position, we’re still open to full-time collaborations with designers who can also code and serve 50% of the time as software developers.
What You Will Do
- Data Visualization: Design dashboards and interfaces that present high-volume OSINT data clearly. You will turn abstract data into meaningful visualizations (charts, networks, graphs) that aid decision-making.
- Enterprise UX Design: Architect user flows and interfaces for large, commercial-grade applications. You will solve complex navigation and information architecture challenges typical of such enterprise tools.
- Prototyping & Handoff: Create wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes in Figma. Ensure your designs are “dev-ready” with clear documentation for the engineering team.
- Bridge Design & Tech: collaborate closely with Developers and Project Managers. Your ability to understand the project requirements and technical implications of your designs (React/MUI) will ensure smooth implementation.
Your Profile
- Commercial Experience: Proven experience (3+ years) designing large-scale commercial applications, SaaS platforms, or complex enterprise tools.
- Data Visualization Expertise: You understand how to present density without clutter.
- Design Tooling: Mastery of Figma.
- UX Fundamentals: Solid understanding of information architecture, user journeys, and usability principles for complex software.
- Soft Skills: Excellent spoken and written English. German is a plus. You are comfortable working in a remote/hybrid, asynchronous environment.
Nice to Have
- Technical Knowledge: While you won’t be required to code daily, experience with HTML/CSS/SCSS or understanding React/Material UI component structures is a massive plus.
- Developer Empathy: You understand how APIs work and the constraints of a browser environment.
- Experience with specific data visualization libraries (e.g., D3.js, MUI X Charts) from a design or implementation perspective.
- Interest in or knowledge of cyber security, risk mitigation, and defense technology.
Benefits
- Flexible work hours to fit your lifestyle.
- Hybrid work schedule: typically two days per week in the office and three days working remotely from home.
- Quarterly company meetups (Hackathons, team-building trips, and strategy days).
- Work on meaningful, high-impact projects in the security and AI space, with significant customer engagement and concrete feedback.
How to Apply: Please send your CV (and a link to your portfolio/GitHub) to jobs@munich-innovation.com, c/o Mr. Matevz Erzen.
